Practice owner and principal dentist at Mullan Gallagher Dental Care, Ciara is also chair of the BDA Northern Ireland Dental Practice Committee and a board member of the College of General Dentistry in Northern Ireland.
Ciara graduated with Honours receiving the prestigious Carlton Gold medal as the most outstanding dental graduate from Birmingham University in 1996. She sat the MFGDP examination and was admitted as a Member of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners Royal College of Surgeons (London) in 1998.
With years of experience and a wealth of postgraduate knowledge Ciara provides the highest standards of general and cosmetic dentistry for her patients; a strong believer in dentistry’s role in promoting personal wellbeing, Ciara’s gentle and approachable manner ensures that the treatment she provides exceeds expectations. In September 2019 I fell over my dog’s lead, landing heavily on the ground outside our house. A split cheek and two badly broken front teeth were the result. It was, of course, a Sunday afternoon so although my cheek was stitched in the evening the earliest time I could contact the dentist was 8.30am on Monday morning which I did. I must commend Mullan and Gallagher on three counts, the speed with which my problem was handled, the kindness and sympathy of all the staff and of course the professional competence and expertise Ciara showed. I always lacked confidence in my smile and this was becoming a bigger insecurity for me as I got older. I was interested in Six Month Smiles because the braces were clear and the process was quick. I first met Ciara at my consultation appointment. Ciara was very encouraging and reassuring about the treatment. When my brace was first fitted Ciara kept in contact with me to reassure and support me, and to offer any guidance. I looked forward to my appointments as I could see results quickly. About four months into my treatment my appointments became more regular and Ciara went out of her way to fit me in. At every appointment I felt that Ciara took time and care with me. Before having my brace fitted I was very self conscious about my teeth, so would avoid pictures because I was so unhappy with my smile. So I decided to go for the ‘Six Month Smiles’, which was affordable through monthly payments. I found the whole experience pleasant from having the braces fitted, the adjusting of the braces to having them removed. Of course, with all the encouragement from Ciara along the way. Since having them removed I am so happy with the results, I couldn’t have imagined they would look so good! This has really helped my confidence and I now actually enjoy smiling.

I was pleased with the service I received. I had a consultation with Ciara back in March 2014. She discussed the process and all costs with me in detail. I am generally a little anxious regarding dentist appointments but Ciara was able to put me at ease by explaining all procedures.
When I first got the brace on it was a little uncomfortable for about 1-2 weeks maximum which was to be expected. The discomfort was definitely tolerable. I did have to use the elastics for a while but again it was worth it.
I could notice results very quickly and I had the brace off by September. I must say that the results were nothing short of amazing. The product came with teeth whitening gel to use with the gum shield once the brace was off. This was also a great product but I haven’t had to use it much. I am so pleased that I chose Six Month Smile with Ciara. I would definitely recommend this product and Ciara and I give it 10/10.
It is now the beginning of October 2016 and my teeth are still very straight and white. However, I believe it is a must to continue to wear the gum shield at night at least a few nights a week.
