Instructions for Use of Custom Fit Bleaching Trays and Gel
- Brush teeth thoroughly using Sensodyne toothpaste.
- Apply the whitening gel onto the inside front surface of the tray(s) as demonstrated by your Dentist. Do not overload the tray.
- Dry the teeth either by an intake of breath or with a tissue.
- Seat the tray firmly and completely over the teeth pressing on the top and on each individual tooth.
- Remove any excess gel that has squeezed out using a clean finger. Do try to avoid this by not over loading the tray as it reduces waste and avoids gum irritation.
- Tray should remain in place for 1-2 hours every other day or as directed by your dentist.
- The interval between whitening sessions depends on the sensitivity of your teeth (see notes below).
- After 12 – 16 sessions, the teeth have usually reached their final shade. The end result depends on the initial colour of the teeth (which will have been recorded by your Dentist) and is usually 2 – 3 shades lighter than at the beginning. Yellow shaded teeth lighten much more easily, quickly and dramatically than grey shaded teeth.
SPECIAL NOTES
- Teeth are naturally darker along the gum line and therefore after whitening although lightened, this area will remain darker than the main part of the tooth.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Whitening the teeth does not prevent the build-up of external stains from tea, coffee, red wine and smoking.
- Temporary sensitivity is a common side effect of the whitening procedure and can be treated using Sensodyne toothpaste. If you have severe sensitivity please contact your Dentist who will recommend alternative application regimes.
